11 nights aboard Hurtigruten | Bergen to Kirkenes return | 34 coastal ports including Tromsø, Lofoten and the North Cape | Northern Lights Promise included | All meals daily included

Hurtigruten has sailed this coastline since 1893, stopping at the same fishing villages, island communities and Arctic towns it has served for over 130 years. The roundtrip from Bergen to Kirkenes and back covers 2,500 nautical miles of Norway at its most elemental — Bryggen’s painted wharfs, the jagged Lofoten Wall rising from the sea, Tromsø glowing under winter skies and the wind-stripped plateau of the North Cape at the edge of Europe. December brings long Arctic nights and with them, real aurora country.

This is not a cruise where Norway is backdrop. The ship docks in up to six ports a day, long enough to walk Trondheim’s medieval streets, join a dog sled run outside Tromsø or stand at the Norwegian border in Kirkenes. The Expedition Team run daily lectures on coastal history, wildlife and the science of the Northern Lights. All meals are included, the ship is small enough to feel like a proper voyage, and if the aurora doesn’t appear on your sailing, Hurtigruten will give you a free six-day return voyage to try again.

See Norway’s Arctic coast this December with up to $1,000 off per cabin and secure it for $250 per person

YOUR ITINERARY

Day 1
16th Dec 2026
Bergen

Bergen is surrounded by seven mountains, and one of the most popular attractions of the world: the fjords. The city offers the ideal combination of nature, culture, history and exhilarating city life. What has made Bergen famous is its unique charm, which is something you have to experience for yourself. Enjoy strolling around the old streets and alleyways where people have lived for centuries.

Walking through UNESCO-listed Bryggen’s narrow alleyways, made even darker and more mysterious by overhanging balconies, feels like stepping back in time. Bryggen is not a museum but part of the cultural heritage that is still in use – a living historical area of the city. The Fløibanen Funicular is a very popular attraction, running from the city centre to the top of Mount Fløyen in about 7 minutes. From the viewing platform you can admire spectacular views of the city, mountains and fjords. In addition to the wide range of hikes, you’ll find a restaurant, café, souvenir shop and playground.
