Charming Chalon-sur-Saône is known for its half-timbered houses, magnificent Gothic cathedral and as the birthplace of Nicéphore Niépce, the inventor of photography. It’s just south of Beaune, a walled medieval town that’s at the heart of the Burgundy wine region.
