This journey follows the Danube through five countries shaped by empire, war and reinvention. From Bucharest’s grand boulevards, the ship traces the river past Bulgaria’s riverside towns and medieval fortresses, through the dramatic Iron Gate gorge, into Serbia’s capital Belgrade, and on through Croatia and Hungary’s Puszta plains before a two-night stay in Budapest closes out the voyage. Guests arrive in Bucharest and check into their hotel for an overnight stay, with the rest of the day free to explore Romania’s capital independently.

A morning city tour takes in the Arc de Triomphe, the Antim Monastery and the vast Palace of Parliament, before guests transfer to Giurgiu to board the ship and enjoy a welcome dinner.

The ship docks in Ruse for a full day exploring Bulgaria’s former capital, Veliko Tarnovo, including the ruins of the royal castle on Tsaravets Hill and free time among the old town’s craft stalls.

Golubac is a village and municipality located in the Braničevo District of the eastern Serbia. Situated on the right side of the Danube river, it is bordered by Romania to the east, Veliko Gradište to the west and Kučevo to the south.
...In Serbia’s capital, guests can walk the grounds of Kalemegdan Fortress, visit the Church of St. Sava, or spend free time exploring the city’s museums and nightlife.

The ship calls at Vukovar for an excursion into Osijek, a Croatian town with roots stretching back to Neolithic times and a townscape shaped by Roman, Ottoman and Habsburg rule.
