History, culture and architecture intertwine in Amsterdam among its narrow lanes and numerous canals. Featuring more bridges than Venice, enjoying a canal tour is a great way to take in the many sights of Amsterdam (and get some great photo ops). Art lovers won’t want to miss the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum while history buffs will want to make time for the Anne Frank House and the Amsterdam Museum.

Imagine sailing on the incredible Viking long ships in the Viking Ship Museum. Picture perfect, the oldest Scandinavian city sits at the head of a 60-mile fjord framed by lakes, woods, moors. Views forever, visit the cliff-dwelling Akershus Castle, originally built in 1300.

Aarhus is a city in Denmark on the Jutland peninsula’s east coast. Den Gamle By is its old town open-air museum, with centuries-old timbered houses. Nearby are the greenhouses of the Aarhus Botanical Garden. In the center, the multistory ARoS art museum shows global contemporary works. The underground Viking Museum explores early local history. Nearby, Aarhus Cathedral has restored 14th- to 16th-century frescoes.

Just a hop from Warnemünde, you can visit medieval Rostock or tour the beautiful Mecklenburg countryside by train. But the big ticket here is an excursion to Berlin, where history comes alive in fantastic museums, Prussian palaces, grand monuments like the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building, famed for its controversial architecture.

Copenhagen greets you with canals, cobbled squares and copper spires. Wander the Latin Quarter’s medieval lanes, browse the shopping streets, or catch a museum before returning to the ship for your final night onboard.
