YOUR ITINERARY
Welcome to Venice. You have 2 nights to explore the city.
...Venice is built across 118 small islands linked by canals in a shallow Adriatic lagoon, and this UNESCO World Heritage city rewards even a short stay, from the gondolas threading past marble palaces to St Mark’s Basilica and the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. Today you transfer by boat from your hotel to the ship at Marghera port to begin the cruise.
...Kotor is one of the most atmospheric medieval towns on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, set against a backdrop of dramatic mountains. Wander the old town’s ancient churches and rustic palaces, tucked among a maze of narrow streets and squares. Kotor is also the gateway to nearby Perast, one of the coast’s prettiest towns.
...Mykonos built its reputation on tangled lanes that locals say once confused even seasoned pirates, and wandering them today is still half the fun. Expect brilliant beaches, turquoise water and whitewashed lanes that catch the afternoon light.
...With the ship staying late into the night, Mykonos rewards a slower pace today. Linger over dinner at one of the harbourside tavernas, then take in the island’s nightlife before the ship sails on to Syros in the early hours.
...Syros is the quiet capital of the Cyclades, a working island rather than a tourist strip. Ermoupoli, its neoclassical capital, climbs the hillside in tiers of grand 19th century mansions built on shipping wealth, with the Apollo Theatre and a lively harbourfront at its centre.
...Ancona is the capital of Italy’s Marche region, a working port city on the Adriatic with a history to match. The Cathedral of Saint Ciriaco and the Roman era Trajan Arch anchor the old town, while inland the walled Renaissance city of Urbino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers some of the best preserved medieval streets in Italy.
...The ship returns to Marghera port this morning, marking the end of your Adriatic and Greek islands voyage. If you have time before your onward travel, a last look at Venice’s canals and squares is easy to fit in before you head home.
