Wander Creek Street, the town’s charming historic district perched above Ketchikan Creek, explore the world’s largest collection of standing totem poles at Totem Bight State Park, or venture into the vast Tongass National Forest, the largest temperate rainforest on earth.

Alaska’s glacier-framed capital is unlike any other city in America, accessible only by sea or air, and all the more special for it. A generous ten hours ashore gives you ample time to explore. Hike to the face of the mighty Mendenhall Glacier, take a floatplane over a landscape of ice fields and jagged peaks that stretches as far as the eye can see, or simply wander the charming downtown streets lined with historic buildings, galleries, and outstanding seafood restaurants.

Step back in time in Skagway, the legendary gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. The entire downtown is a living museum, preserved as a National Historic Park, where false-fronted saloons and wooden boardwalks transport you to one of the most extraordinary chapters in North American history. Perched on the edge of the Pacific with the extinct volcano Mount Edgecumbe as its backdrop, Sitka is widely regarded as one of Alaska’s most beautiful and culturally rich ports. Once the capital of Russian America, the town blends Indigenous Tlingit heritage with Russian colonial history in a way found nowhere else on earth. Visit the onion-domed Saint Michael’s Cathedral, walk among the remarkable totem poles of Sitka National Historical Park, and keep watch for sea otters, humpback whales, and brown bears along the pristine shoreline.

This is the moment the entire voyage has been building toward. Crystal Serenity glides deep into Disenchantment Bay to stand before the awe-inspiring face of Hubbard Glacier, North America’s largest tidewater glacier. Stretching nearly 10 kilometres wide and rising 30 storeys above the waterline, this ancient river of ice is a sight of humbling, primal power.
