YOUR ITINERARY
Your voyage to the far north begins tonight in New York.
Check into your 4-star hotel and spend the evening at your own pace. The High Line, the Brooklyn Bridge and some of the finest restaurants in the world are all within reach. Tomorrow, Celebrity Silhouette departs from Cape Liberty and the Atlantic opens up ahead.
The departure from Cape Liberty may be the finest urban sail-away in the world.
As Celebrity Silhouette leaves the dock and heads for the open ocean, the Manhattan skyline stretches across the horizon, the Statue of Liberty stands to port and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge frames the passage south. Find the best spot on deck and stay there until the city disappears. The North Atlantic and the far north await.
The Atlantic opens up behind you and the voyage properly begins.
The Canadian Maritime coast is just over the horizon, but today belongs entirely to the ship. The Solarium is the perfect companion to a crisp North Atlantic morning. Settle into the Murano or Tuscan Grill for a long lunch, attend a destination lecture on the history of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, or simply find a veranda chair and watch the deep blue of the open ocean roll past. Celebrity Silhouette was made for exactly this kind of day.

Find the best spot on deck and stay there until the city disappears. The North Atlantic and the far north await.
Halifax is Canada’s Atlantic gateway, a city of extraordinary history and genuine maritime character.
The Citadel Hill fortress overlooks the harbour from above, the waterfront boardwalk stretches for kilometres past historic warehouses converted into excellent restaurants and bars, and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic tells some of the most gripping stories in Canadian history, including a remarkable Titanic collection. The town clock, the public gardens and the explosion memorial are all within easy walking distance of the pier.
The Labrador Sea has a particular quality of light that is unlike anywhere else in the world.
As the ship moves north and east, the ocean deepens in colour and the air carries a new sharpness. This is the Atlantic at its most elemental, and the days are growing longer by the hour. A lecture on the history of Newfoundland and the Grand Banks fishing grounds is worth attending today, as is anything that involves the Hot Glass Show in the evening. The Lawn Club on a cool Atlantic afternoon with a glass of something warm is one of the quiet pleasures of this voyage.
St John’s is one of the oldest European settlements in North America and one of the most characterful cities in Canada.
The harbour entrance, known as The Narrows, is so narrow that only one ship can pass at a time, flanked by towering cliffs where Signal Hill stands as one of Canada’s most historic sites — it was here in 1901 that Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal. The city’s famous Jellybean Row houses paint the steep streets in vivid colour, the George Street bar district is legendary, and Cape St Mary’s ecological reserve, home to tens of thousands of nesting gannets, is one of the most spectacular wildlife spectacles on the Atlantic coast.
Two sea days separate the familiar world of Atlantic Canada from one of the most extraordinary places on earth.
These are the crossing days, and they reward those who slow down and pay attention. The light changes noticeably as the ship moves north, the nights grow shorter, and by Day 9 the first icebergs may appear on the horizon well before Greenland itself comes into view. Keep watch from the Explorer’s Lounge or the Sunset Bar. The Spa’s Persian Garden is an ideal retreat on cooler days at sea, and the enrichment programme on Arctic ecology and Greenland history is genuinely worth your time.
Qaqortoq is Greenland’s most colourful town, a community of just 3,000 people that has inhabited this ice-carved landscape for over 4,000 years.
The Hvalsey Church ruins nearby are the most well-preserved Norse ruins in Greenland, dating to the 14th century when Vikings farmed these valleys. The hot springs at Uunartoq, accessible by boat, offer the surreal experience of bathing in geothermally heated water surrounded by icebergs. Kayaking the local fjords between floating ice is an experience unlike anything else on earth.
Prins Christian Sound is one of the most dramatic scenic cruising passages on earth, and a day here is not easily forgotten.
The fjord cuts through the southernmost tip of Greenland between walls of rock rising to 1,200 metres, with glaciers calving into the water and tidal currents keeping the channel largely clear of ice. Sheep farms on impossibly green pastures sit against a backdrop of permanent snowfields. Find your spot on deck early and plan to stay. Celebrity Silhouette navigates this passage slowly, and every minute deserves your full attention.
The last sea day before Iceland, and the sky simply refuses to go dark.
By late June at this latitude the sun dips briefly toward the horizon before rising again, and the quality of light in the small hours of the morning is unlike anything you will have seen before. Stay up for it. Spend the afternoon reflecting on what Greenland delivered: the icebergs, the Norse ruins, the silence of Prins Christian Sound. Reykjavik awaits tomorrow, and the Midnight Sun to Nordic Streets lives up to everything its name promises.
Ísafjörður sits at the end of a long, narrow fjord in the Westfjords, the most remote and least-visited corner of Iceland, and arriving here by ship feels like a genuine privilege.
The colourful wooden merchant houses of the old town date to the 18th century and are among the most picturesque in Iceland. The surrounding mountains rise directly from the fjord’s edge, and the hiking trails above the town deliver views that few visitors to Iceland ever see. The Westfjords Heritage Museum tells the story of the Arctic fox, the fishing communities and the birds that define this extraordinary peninsula. This is Iceland without the tourist crowds.
Celebrity Silhouette sails into Reykjavik and the voyage ends as it should: with one of the great Nordic cities at your feet.
Iceland’s capital is small enough to walk across in an afternoon but large enough to surprise you for days. The Hallgrimskirkja church dominates the skyline, the Harpa concert hall shimmers on the waterfront, and the food and bar scene punches well above its size. Disembark and check into your Reykjavik hotel — two more nights in Iceland await.
Reykjavik rewards the curious, and a full day here gives you the freedom to explore it properly.
The Golden Circle, Iceland’s most famous day trip, takes in the geothermal area of Geysir where Strokkur erupts every few minutes, the thundering Gullfoss waterfall and the Thingvellir National Park where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are visibly pulling apart. Or stay closer to the city: the National Museum, the Settlement Exhibition built around actual Viking age remains, and the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa are all compelling alternatives.
Your final day in Iceland and the sky may never get dark.
June in Reykjavik means near-continuous daylight, and the midnight sun is a genuinely extraordinary experience. Spend the day at your own pace: a final coffee in a Reykjavik cafe, a walk along the harbour to the Sun Voyager sculpture, or a last visit to a geothermal pool. Iceland has a way of making people plan their return before they have even left.
Your journey comes to a close today.
Transfer to Keflavik Airport for your flight home, carrying memories of Greenland icebergs, Newfoundland harbour colours, Westfjords mountains and a city that runs on volcanic heat. It has been quite a voyage. Interested in extending you stay?
