Most cruise ships pass the French and Italian Rivieras at a distance. Emerald Cruises’ contemporary ocean-going yachts are designed to make the most of the glorious climate and fantastic views across the Mediterranean at a scale that actually belongs there. Fewer than 100 guests, anchoring in harbours that larger ships cannot reach, with the marina platform open so you can kayak, paddleboard or swim directly from the ship.

Emerald Sakara is one of Emerald Cruises’ purpose-built luxury yachts, launched in 2023 and carrying just 100 guests across a vessel specifically designed for the Mediterranean’s smaller harbours and anchorages. At 110 metres in length, Emerald Sakara is sized to anchor directly in ports like Portofino, Monaco and Porto Venere where larger cruise ships cannot dock, giving guests a waterfront access that the conventional cruise experience cannot replicate.
The all-inclusive model covers all meals across the main dining venue and the al fresco Sky Bar, complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks and selected cocktails throughout the day, all gratuities and port taxes. The marina platform at the stern opens in suitable conditions to give direct access to the sea for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding directly from the ship. The EmeraldACTIVE programme provides a range of guided excursions and active experiences in every port. The Sky Bar, the Observation Lounge and the pool deck give distinct social spaces across the ship’s upper decks. The spa and wellness facilities include a treatment room, sauna and fitness equipment. Known as the ‘Eternal City,’ Rome is littered with iconic landmarks that bear testament to its former status as the epicentre of the mighty Roman Empire. From here, you’ll be transferred to your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht and begin your wondrous voyage exploring the glamorous French and Italian rivieras.

The highly-prized Carrara marble not only ranks as one of Italy’s most celebrated artisan products, but has been, used for centuries to create some of the world’s most important artistic wonders, including Michelangelo’s iconic Statue of David. Porto Venere’s wonderful swimming spots were beloved by, amongst others, the legendary English poet, Lord Byron, who regularly swam and meditated here in the early 1800s. Later in the morning, you’ll sail on to delightful Portofino. Nestled along the Italian Riviera, the eternally popular Portofino boasts a rich gastronomic scene, a picturesque harbour and narrow streets lined with charming pastel-hued houses, high-end boutiques and restaurants specialising in freshly-caught seafood.
