Belgrade is the capital of the southeast European country of Serbia. Its most significant landmark is the Beogradska Tvrđava, an imposing fortress at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. The fort is a testament to the city’s strategic importance to the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Serbian and Austrian empires, and it’s now the site of several museums as well as Kalemegdan, a vast park.

YOUR SHIP - The S.S. Emilie
S.S. Emilie is Uniworld’s newest Super Ship, launched in 2026 and inspired by the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt and his muse Emilie Flöge, whose name the ship carries. The design throughout draws on Klimt’s signature Art Nouveau aesthetic: dramatic hues, gold accents and decorative elements that give S.S. Emilie a visual character entirely distinct from any other river ship sailing the Rhine.
Carrying 130 guests across four decks at 442 feet in length, S.S. Emilie combines the intimate scale of boutique river cruising with the facilities and service standards of a five-star hotel. The dining room serves all meals using locally sourced fresh ingredients, with unlimited beverages including fine wine, beer, spirits, specialty coffees and teas included throughout the voyage. The Bar, the Lounge and the Sun Deck give distinct social spaces at each end of the day. Every stateroom and suite is fitted with handcrafted Savoir Beds of England, high thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets and Asprey bathroom products, and the Grand Suite’s 412 square feet with butler service, in-suite breakfast, Nespresso machine, free laundry and shoe shine represent the most comprehensive suite amenity package on any river vessel reviewed in this series. Use of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks is complimentary throughout the voyage, Wi-Fi is free throughout and all gratuities for onboard and shore personnel are included.
