Around midnight last night, Tropical Cyclone Hato was upgraded to a Typhoon Category 8 which is the third highest typhoon rating. As a direct result, there are mass flight cancellations in and out of Hong Kong (HKG) today as Typhoon Hato makes landfall. This will impact guest arrival and departure into the city, as well as potential cruise itineraries that include this port.
We have the following advice:
· The majority of Cathay Pacific (CX) services in and out of HKG have been cancelled between 0600 and 1700 (local time) today (Wednesday 23 August).
· Hong Kong Airlines (HX) has suspended all arrivals and departures between 0700 and 1700 today also.
· All ferry services between Hong Kong International Airport and Pearl River Delta and Macao have been cancelled today.
Please see the Hong Kong Airport (HKG) website for more information here, and the Port of Hong Kong website here. We also advise you contact your Cruiseabout consultant if you are concerned about impact on any upcoming Hong Kong cruising.
