Shrek & Donkey To Board Anthem Of The Seas On Maiden Voyage
Royal Caribbean is hoping to poach seafaring families from Disney by bringing a cast of popular animated characters including Shrek, Po from Kung Fu Panda, and the penguins from Madagascar aboard their newest vessel, the Anthem of the Seas.
It’s a strategy that pits the princess tales of Frozen against Shrek; Mickey against Po.
When Anthem of the Seas sets sail on her maiden commercial voyage in November from her homeport of Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New Jersey, a cast of DreamWorks characters will also take to the high seas to entertain the ship’s littlest guests.
Characters from the studio’s animated feature films will cruise the decks in meet-and-greet experiences and photo ops. The ship will also feature DreamWorks-themed games and activities.
Guests can also watch the films aboard the ship’s movie theater.
Anthem of the Seas is the sister ship to Royal Caribbean’s game-changing Quantum of the Seas, which launched last year, and will include many of the same game-changing features including a skydiving chamber, glass observation capsule that takes guests 91 metres above the ocean, and robotic bartenders.
Meanwhile, construction is currently underway on the Harmony of the Seas, which, when complete, will become the largest cruise ship in the world.
