Scenic Launches Newest Space-Ship
Scenic has christened its latest Space-Ship to join the fleet, Scenic Amber, in a special ceremony held along the beautiful River Danube port of Passau, Germany.
Scenic Amber was officially unveiled in front of local and international media, travel industry leaders, the Mayor of Passau, tourism officials and Scenic owner and Chairman, Glen Moroney.
United States luxury cruise consultant, Angela Turen, christened Scenic Amber as the ship's official Godmother, with the traditional smashing of champagne on the bow, followed by a blessing of the ship, its crew and passengers by a local clergyman.
With 85 cabins on board, including one single room, the 15th river vessel to join Scenic's fleet boasts the largest cabins to cruise European waterways.
The Royal Panorama Suite is 44 square metres including two bathrooms, a large bathtub and sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows.
The 33-square-metre Royal Balcony Suite features such luxuries as an oversized bathroom with bathtub, a separate lounge area with comfortable sofa and sitting chairs facing floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river.

Other ship features include the first heated vitality pool, floor-to-ceiling windows in all balcony cabins that lower at the push of a button, with 24-hour butler service available for all cabins.
Glen Moroney commented: “We are proud to launch our third next-generation Scenic Space-Ship on Europe’s waterways. The ship’s exceptional design and luxurious large suites were positively received by our guests last year who just loved the heightened sense of luxury we were able to bring with these enhancements.”
Scenic Amber brings the European fleet total to 15, including boutique small ship, Scenic Tsar, which exclusively sails in Russia.
Scenic has the newest fleet of ships to sail the European rivers, and this year began sailing in South East Asia with Scenic Spirit debuting on the Mekong in January, followed by Scenic Aura, which will begin sailing Myanmar’s Irrawaddy in September.
