Royal Caribbean Reveals Quantum of the Seas Features

Posted April 17th, 2013

Royal Caribbean International has released some much-anticipated details of its amazing new Quantum of the Seas, which will debut in 2014.

In keeping with its tradition of wowing the cruising public, Quantum of the Seas boasts a host of "firsts at sea", including onboard bumper car rides, a Ripcord iFly vertical wind tunnel skydiving experience, a massive sports area called the Seaplex and the amazing "Northstar" - a London Eye-style capsule on the top of the ship on an articulated arm which enables passengers to hang out above the ship or over the ocean!

There will also be a multipurpose venue called TWO70, which transforms throughout the day and in the evening becomes a location for dramatic acrobatic performances, plus "The Music Hall", two floors of cutting edge music and entertainment.

Quantum of the Seas will also offer other innovations introduced in recent years on other Royal Caribbean ships, including the Flowrider surfing experience, and the Dreamworks characters.

The details were revealed at a media conference in New York by Royal Caribbean Chairman and CEO Richard Fain and President Adam Goldstein, alongside Quantum's godmother, and Broadway star, Kristen Chenoweth.

Fain said that as well as the host of experiences, the ship offers a "quantum leap forward in stateroom design" with cabins 9% larger on average than Oasis of the Seas; more storage; "virtual balconies" on inside staterooms, so that all staterooms have a view; USB outlets; unique modular rooms and a "more residential atmosphere".

He said each innovative feature is newsworthy in its own right, and "the sum of the parts is spectacular", adding that Quantum is a "measurable step forward in the cruise experience".

Sister ship Anthem of the Seas will follow in 2015, with the same host of innovative features.
