Queen Mary 2 is Elegance Perfected
Thomas Jones from Cruiseabout Biggera Waters reflects on the elegance and beauty of Cunard's Queen Mary II.
I attended the onboard educational on the magnificent Queen Mary 2 on the 14 Feb 2012, as this beautiful ship cruised from Sydney to Brisbane.
What a fantastic sight it was seeing this impressive 140 000+ tonne, 2620-passenger cruise ship, as we proceeded toward her in our launch from Darling Harbour at Garden Island in Sydney Harbour. There were photo opportunities aplenty!
As we boarded we could see we were entering a ship of traditional elegance, as the staff greeted us with British accents, and smart, neatly pressed Cunard uniforms.
Onboard the ship, during the entire experience, at no time did it feel like there were nearly 4000 people onboard (guests and crew), and all of the ship areas felt open, relaxed and crown free.
The dining area service and the cuisine were exceptional! Try and get in for breakfast as well, it is well worth it. The High Tea in the afternoons were all about the pomp and regalia, with a symphony quartet playing, excellent sweets and sweet brewed teas – definitely well worth going to.
Overall - the Queen Mary 2 is a beautiful ship, with amazing crew and staff – it was definitely a cruise that I will remember forever.
