Ovation Of The Seas Officially Welcomed Into RCI Family

Posted April 12th, 2016

Last Friday marked the official welcome of Royal Caribbean's new cruise ship as Ovation of the Seas was delivered to the global cruise line in Bremerhaven, Germany.

Royal Caribbean's 24th ship, Ovation of the Seas will become a travel sensation once it arrives in Australia in December. The Quantum-class ship boasts size, onboard experiences and amenities, and state-of-the-art technology that most Australians have never before experienced at sea.

It’s wonderful to welcome Ovation of the Seas to the Royal Caribbean family of ships,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

“We have once again introduced yet another one of the most technologically advanced cruise ships and the very first that has been built for the Asia Pacific market – a market we continue to demonstrate our commitment to expanding.

“Quantum Class has redefined the status quo, and we are excited for our guests in China and Australia to enjoy their extraordinary holidays onboard this stunner.”

Australian cruisers won't be the first to experience the exciting cruise ship. Ovation of the Seas will first sail to Southampton, UK, where, after a series of short journeys, she will set out on a 52-night trip to Beijing.

Ovation will then commence its time in Australia with a 15-night voyage from Singapore to Sydney on 30 November 2016. The ship will stop off in Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart before docking at her temporary home in Sydney Harbour.

Unfortunately, we can't keep her forever. However, Royal Caribbean has gifted Australia with another month and four new sailings during Ovation's maiden season Down Under. And if you miss out, don't fret. The ship will be back in summer 2017/18 for a second season.

Ovation is one of the most technologically advanced ships on the market. Some of the exclusive onboard facilities guests can enjoy include:

  • North Star observation capsule that grants panoramic views from 90 metres high
  • Skydiving and surfing experiences
  • Two70 daily social area
  • SeaPlex indoor activity space with basketball, bumper cars and rollerblading

The ship also boasts 18 restaurants and the unbelievable Virtual Balcony staterooms, which let you soak up real-time views outside even when you don't have a window.

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
