Christmas cruise

Cruising at Christmas: a very memorable experience

I have been lucky enough to experience Christmas at sea on two occasions. Once on board the Dawn Princess and the other time was on board the Costa Allegra. Cruising at Christmas is truly a great way to get away from all the normal hassles associated with visiting relatives and organising the expensive Christmas dinner and lunch with all the trimmings.

The Christmas decorations on the ships give the cruise that festive feel the minute you step on board. Princess Cruises really go all out with the main atrium smelling like gingerbread from the gingerbread and icing alpine villages the chefs go to so much trouble to prepare for our viewing pleasure and for the children to ogle.

On Christmas Eve the staff sang carols and even fake snow fell from the atrium roof top while children had their photo with Santa and he gave each child a present. It was wonderful to be waited on by attentive staff on Christmas Day enjoying a wonderful feast of turkey or ham with all the trimmings.

On board Costa we had a wonderful midnight mass where our children were able to participate on stage reenacting the night of Jesus’ birth and sing carols. These were unforgettable Christmas memories we will cherish forever.
