Celebrity Cruises vs Holland America

Posted March 6th, 2017
Amongst the most well-known and celebrated cruise lines in the world, Celebrity Cruises and Holland America Line each have plenty to boast about, from exclusive shore excursions to Signature onboard experiences. Below, we’ve tackled the difficult task of comparing these two industry heavyweights – which cruise line do you think will come out on top?

Celebrity Cruises offers an array of stateroom options, including an Inside Stateroom, Ocean View Stateroom and Veranda Stateroom. For passengers who like to travel with perks, Celebrity Cruises also provides the option to upgrade to Concierge, Aqua or Suite Class and experience additional benefits such as a personal butler, priority check-in, priority seating at exclusive restaurants and priority disembarkation.
While stateroom availability varies from ship to ship, Holland America Line boasts an extensive range of suites and staterooms. Passengers can also select interior, ocean-view or balcony staterooms, or splurge a little on a suite. These suites each offer something different, from their position on the ship to special privileges, including exclusive access to the Neptune Lounge.

Since being founded in Greece in 1989, Celebrity Cruises has dramatically expanded its list of destinations visited. Now, the cruise line’s ships voyage to just about everywhere, from Alaska, Asia and Australia to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Galapagos, Hawaii and South America.
Holland America Line has been transporting passengers for over 140 years and provides journeys to a slightly shorter list of destinations, including the South Pacific, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico and the Panama Canal.

Meanwhile, Holland America Line offers Club HAL®, a special place where children aged 3-17 years can enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including computer games.

Boasting modern luxury, Celebrity Cruises’s line-up of restaurants, from Luminae to Qsine, offer mouth-watering meals around the clock. Casual, chic, inside, al fresco, Asian, Italian – passengers will also love the variety of cuisine and dining available from the dozen or so specialty restaurants. Thanks to Celebrity’s Select Dining, cruisers can also choose when and with whom they dine.
Aboard Holland America Line’s ships, the dining experiences available are equally varied. Guests can attend a High Tea, tuck into chips, burgers and pizza, treat themselves to gelato, or enjoy a culinary journey through France, Italy and Southeast Asia. Passengers can also order room service at any time of the day or night.

The Verdict

When it comes to accommodation, destinations, facilities and activities and dining, both cruise lines provide quality and choice, proving why they’re at the top of the cruising world. With little between them, ultimately, the cruise line that’s best for you will depend on your needs and wants.
