Carnival To Host Radio Duo Hamish & Andy
'The People's Cruise' officially takes to the ocean next month with popular radio hosts Hamish and Andy bringing along select listeners for a live five-day show aboard Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Spirit.
Considered one of the world's biggest broadcasts at sea, the show will be heard across Australia via satellite all the way from the South Pacific. Broadcasting from such remote destinations is only possible thanks to Carnival's upgraded onboard internet access.
Come June, a "ship load" of listeners (about 110) will join the duo on Carnival Spirit for one day in Sydney Harbour, three days at sea and another at the uninhabited Mystery Island in Vanuatu.
The show is a great opportunity for Carnival to show off its onboard entertainment.
"Carnival shares the same fun ethos as Hamish and Andy. We’re all about fun, free-spirited, holidays for social, outgoing holidaymakers – people like Hamish and Andy and their listeners, who don’t take themselves too seriously and are always up for a laugh and some fun," Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke said.
The show will be the first of its kind for Hit Network, which will choose 110 lucky winners around the country to be on The People's Cruise.
As for the two hosts, Hamish and Andy aren't underplaying the opportunity to experience Carnival Spirit's fun offerings such as dive-in cinema, Green Thunder water slide, and complimentary 24-hour pizza and ice cream.
"Everyone thinks we’ve decided to broadcast from a cruise ship with 110 listeners just so we can drink and relax by one of four pools on board the ship each day. They are wrong … ‘cause there are only three pools."
