Carnival Splendor Newest & Largest Ship In Aussie Waters In 2019
The world’s largest cruise line, Carnival Cruise Line, has revealed that Carnival Splendor will join its Australian fleet next year, making it the newest and largest ship to homeport in Australia year-round.
Based in Sydney, the ship is set to make fun, family-friendly cruise holidays even more accessible; in the last five years alone, over 800,000 Australians have set sail with Carnival from home shores.
Following in the footsteps of sister ship Carnival Spirit, which was recently announced as Australia’s favourite year-round cruise ship - as rated by Australian travelers - Carnival Splendor will undergo an “extensive drydock” prior to her trip Down Under.
This will see a host of improvements made to ensure she’s in ship-shape for Aussie cruisers, including a range of new dining experiences tailored to local tastes, a brand new water park and an overhaul that’ll see capacity increase to an impressive 3,900 passengers.
The 113,300 gross tonnage cruise liner will primarily sail to the South Pacific, offering itineraries eight to 10 days in length, and pick up Carnival’s regular Australian itineraries to destinations such as Queensland and Tasmania. It’s also expected she’ll make an annual cruise to New Zealand.
Carnival Splendor is set to arrive through Sydney Heads to kick off her Aussie season in December 2019, after a repositioning cruise from Singapore.
Bookings for Carnival Splendor’s 2019 sailings will open in March this year, and sailings for 2020 will open in May/June this year.
