Carnival Legend Arrives in Drydock

Posted February 3rd, 2014

Yesterday, Carnival Legend arrived in Freeport, Bahamas of her drydock, where some 500 workers will work on her "Aussification" for the next two weeks.

Highlights of her upgrades to make her "Aussie-ready" include a southern hemisphere first - Carnival Legend will be receiving Carnival Cruise Line's own RedFrog Pub. This laid-back yet lively space is sure to be a popular spot with Australian cruisers, as it comes complete with a foosball table, live music and Carnival's own locally brewed beer.

Carnival Legend will also be receiving the popular Green Thunder waterslide which we have all come to love onboard Carnival Spirit. Green Thunder is the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea, and is set inside Carnival Waterworks, a splash zone featuring a giant tipping bucket and racing slides.

A new Japanese-inspired sanctuary, Bonsai Sushi, is also being introduced in order to satisfy the wasabi cravings of Australia. You will be able to enjoy a unique experience and dine amidst bonsai trees while enjoying festive koi kite celebrations, sit-down service and a menu of delectable catches, including sushi rolls, sashimi, sushi boats, sake and more.

Carnival also haven't forgotten about the sweet-tooths amongst us, with the introduction of Cherry on Top, a well-stocked 'candy-and-more-store' where you can indulge on confectionery favourites and collect tasty take-home souvenirs.

Along with these new additions, the casino will also be reconfigured and new machines will be added; the gym and the Spa treatment rooms will receive an upgrade; two new shows will be introduced and the pool area will get new decking. Plus, like her sister-ship, Carnival Spirit, Legend will also offer you the same wide open spaces, the child-free Serenity area, plenty of bars and lounges, Australian power points, and an upgrade to the onboard coffee to ensure you get your perfect wake-me up each morning.

Carnival Legend is set to be released from drydock on 16 February, and will be making her way from Los Angeles to Sydney on a repositioning cruise, departing on 30 August 2014. She will then sail seasonally from Sydney from 24 September 2014 around the South Pacific islands.
