Caribbean Winter Escape

Can you imagine yourself basking in the warm winter sun and needing sunglasses to escape the glare of the pristine turquoise ocean? If so, why not escape the chilly winter and head for the balmy weather of the stunning Caribbean in winter.   A winter cruise is the perfect opportunity to wiggle your toes on an amazingly long stretch of white sandy beach or leisurely sun yourself on deck aboard your ship.

If you want to see what Barbados has to offer, take a trip to Harrison’s Caves to see the spectacular geological formations and take a visit to the famous Mount Gay rum distillery.  Make sure to stop at the Boatyard Bar for a lunch break and have a peek at how the friendly Bajans relax on this beautiful island. Being a decidedly British island, you can sip afternoon tea at Sunbury Plantation whilst watching a local game of cricket.

French is the dominant language on this captivating island.  You can browse the chic boutiques or local markets or perhaps visit the lush rainforest at Mount Pelee.  Pointe du Bout is a very popular resort style beachside town. It is only a short 15 minute walk into the city centre from where your ship docks.

With over 365 sandy beaches for you to play on, this island is truly a tropical paradise.  For the adventurous you can zipline or swing your way above the rainforest canopy.  Take a stroll through the local markets filled with aromatic spices and colourful fruits. Teeming with exotic birdlife, this spectacular island is a naturist’s paradise. You can follow the scenic winding Fig Tree Drive to gain a glimpse of virgin rainforest and see local life in the fishing villages.

With the heady aroma of a multitude of spices swirling through the air, the Spice Island is a fascinating place full of history and unique tantalising local cuisine.  This lush paradise boasts exotic blooms and spectacular white sandy beaches. For something unique, snorkel or dive at the Underwater Sculpture Garden, an amazing display of artistic underwater sculptures. For foodies, take a short journey to the very informative Dougaldston Spice Estate and the Grenada Chocolate Company.

British Virgin Islands

With some of the most picture perfect beaches such as Cane Garden Bay and White Bay, it won’t be hard to simply relax and stroll the white silky sandy beaches or immerse yourself into the depths of the warm crystal clear waters. If you have the energy to do a little sightseeing, make sure you visit the Virgin Gorda with its magnificent rock pools and grottos.

Cruising the waters of the Caribbean during winter can be the perfect getaway. You will experience all the luxuries that a cruise ship has to offer and enough entertainment to keep couples, families or solo travellers occupied.  Your Caribbean ports of call will leave you enthralled with the fabulous white sandy beaches, tropical rainforest, fascinating natural formations and enough adventure to add a little spice to your cruise!  So why not escape for a while and truly relax away from the cold winter days and nights.
