All Aboard The Avalon Tapestry II
I was fortunate to recently enjoy a luxury cruise with Avalon Waterways along the Seine River from Paris to Normandy, aboard the new Avalon Tapestry II.
What a fantastic way to experience to diversity between the amazing vibrant city that is Paris, to the stunningly beautiful northern France countryside.
The experience started from the document drop off – a full-size document wallet tailored to fit a standard iPad – a brilliant idea, as many cruisers travel with an Ipad.
I was met at Charles De Gaulle Airport by the Avalon rep – courteous, polite and very friendly. Then the coach to central Paris for the embarkation process – what a simple straightforward and efficient process. Within 10 minutes of boarding, I was in my room.
Highlights From My Journey
So fresh and the use of regional cuisine was perfect and really let me embrace to local life (one of the best Caesar salads I have ever had). All the meals were amazing and the decor was modern, new and fresh. There were big windows, so I could see the sights on the move.
The room was comfortable and standard for a river cruise ship, with a flat-screen TV, in-room movies, marble bathroom, L'Occetaine products, super soft duvet. Even the fire place on the TV was set every night!
The service was top class, without a fault. The bar staff knew my preferred drink after day one. The crew tried very hard to personalise the experience with a staff night of fun and games, plus more. They also introduced all the staff including the dishwashers, so we got to see and know everyone on board.
There were a lot more inclusions than expected. Every day was packed and busy, but the excursions were set up at a leisurely pace, catering to everyone's needs.
The guides were fun and exceptionally informative. Coaches were clean and everyone had their own headset, which made it more relaxing. We spotted all the highlights and possible some more.
