5 Reasons to Get Excited About the Seabourn Ovation
Arriving in autumn of 2018, the Seabourn Ovation promises to be a popular addition to the world of cruising. With just over a year to go before she launches, we’ve highlighted just five of the reasons to keep an eye on this exciting new vessel.
To create luxuriously modern cruise ships, Seabourn turned to renowned designer Adam D. Tihany in the design stages of both the Seabourn Ovation and its sister ship, the Seabourn Encore. Tihany specialises in developing unique, elegant spaces for high-class hotels, restaurants, spas and resorts, and has worked with famous culinary stars such as Wolfgang Puck, Thomas Keller and Heston Blumenthal. His work can also be seen in acclaimed hotels such as the One&Only resort in Cape Town, the Beverley Hills Hotel, The Four Seasons Hotel Jumeriah Beach in Dubai and Hotel Cipriani in Venice.
Inspired by the grandeur of private luxury yachts and understanding that passengers are attracted to novelty and discovery, Tihany has designed a cruise ship that is spontaneous and exhilarating and that will elicit surprise and delight.
Larger than life
With a gross tonnage of 40,350, the 210-metre-long Seabourn Ovation will be one of the largest ships in the Seabourn fleet, along with its sister ship, the Seabourn Encore. On board, its 600 passengers will have a wealth of activities, amenities and dining facilities to choose from. Located at the top of the ship, The Retreat is an exclusive, open-air space featuring a central whirlpool, private cabanas, sun loungers and a Spa Treatment Cabana. Meanwhile, the Grand Salon is the place to go for onboard performances, with everything from lectures, cooking demonstrations and comedy acts to classic recitals and cabaret shows.
Ushering in a new era of ultra-luxury for the cruise line, the Seabourn Ovation will take its lead from the Seabourn Encore and up the ante, with several new features for guests to enjoy. New restaurants include The Grill, an innovative venue formed in partnership with world-renowned chef and restaurateur, Thomas Keller. The genius behind three Michelin-starred restaurants, Keller will bring his award-winning French and American cuisine to the tastebuds of lucky passengers. At Sushi, the first Japanese restaurant to appear on a Seabourn ship, diners can watch in awe as specialist chefs prepare sashimi, nigiri and sushi.
As one of the biggest vessels in the Seabourn fleet, the Seabourn Ovation will have a high space-to-passenger ratio and will boast 300 stunning suites, each with their own, private balcony. All suites bear the touch of Tihany’s famous design work, with sophisticated colour palettes, fine fabrics and lustrous finishes. Accommodation aboard the Seabourn Ovation will also carry Seabourn Signature Scents, a collection of exotic fragrances designed by Molton Brown exclusively for Seabourn guests.
A wonderful maiden season
Departing on May 5, 2018, the Seabourn Ovation will embark on an 11-day journey from Venice to Barcelona, with stops in Croatia, Greece, Malta, France and Montenegro. The rest of the maiden season will be spent exploring the waters of Northern Europe, including the Baltic, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. For example, the ship will embark on a series of 7-day cruises between Copenhagen and Stockholm (a three-day stay in St Petersburg is also included). The Seabourn Ovation will also sail on 14-day voyages, taking in the magical Norwegian fjords and British Isles.
