Cruise on board Hurtigruten's MS Nordstjernen
The MS Nordstjernen is named after the North Star, or Stella Polaris. The North Star has been used throughout history to guide travellers across sand and sea. First built in 1956, Hurtigruten have preserved many design aspects from the original construction. The MS Nordstjernen was restored and modified, most recently in 2014, though shiny brass and classic wooden interiors are still prominent.
Capable of safely transporting up to 290 passengers, The MS Nordstjernen is beautifully presented and cosy. Taking in ports such as Longyearbyen, Moffen Island and Kongsfjorden, the ship cruises the Norwegian coast and on to Spitsbergen. Along the way, passengers can expect to see some of the most beautiful fjords, including Geirangerfjord. There is even a chance to see seals and polar bears after crossing the Arctic Circle.
While on board the MS Nordstjernen, passengers are given plenty of opportunities to view the wilderness and surrounds. There is ample deck space and a panorama lounge to relax and watch the coastline pass you by. When you are done for the evening, retire to the comfort and privacy of your cabin. Each cabin offers an authentic classic ship feel, with woodwork spread throughout.
