From Gloucester and Kent Avenues, there are superb views onto the clear Caribbean waters and the long reef protecting the bay. Most of the hotels are found on a strip of coastline about 2.4km long.
There are three main beaches: Doctor's Cave Beach which has beautiful white sand, and where the exceptionally clear water is believed to be fed by mineral springs; Walter Fletcher Beach, nearest the center and a short walk from the Upper Deck Hotel; and Cornwall Beach, which is close to the local Tourist Board Office. A short way inland from the Bay is Rose Hall, a restored Great House on a sugar plantation.
Port Location - The Montego Bay pier and cruise terminal are just a few kilometres from downtown. Taxis are available right at the terminal.
Transport Links - Montego International airport is approximately 3km's north of the city. Flights are available to and from London, New York and Los Angeles.
There is a reliable bus service in Montego Bay but taxis are the cheapest and quickest way of getting around. Cars are also available for hire. There is no rail service available.
