Galveston is the county seat of Galveston County located along the Gulf Coast region in the U.S. state of Texas. Galveston is the gateway to the Carribean and has kilometres of beaches off the coast of the Gulf. The sand is fine, the water is beautiful.

Galveston is known for its historic neighborhoods and a ten-mile long seawall designed to protect the city from floods. The city houses many tourist attractions including the Galveston Schlitterbahn waterpark, Moody Gardens, the Lone Star Flight Museum, a downtown neighborhood of historic buildings known as "The Strand," many historical museums and mansions, and miles of beach front.

Port Location - The port is located on the north side of Galveston Island with property and facilities on adjacent Pelican Island at the entrance to Galveston Bay.

Transport Links - The only intercontinental airport is George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston which is a 90 minute drive. Coach USA buses run regularly to Galveston through Houston.

There is a free ferry service that regularly runs between the island and Port Bolivar

located on mainland east of Galveston. Amtrak provides a bus from Galveston to Longview.

The island is small enough that walking can take you most places, there is a replica streetcar service, and pedal cars are also available to rent.
