Explorer expeditions operate during the austral summer when the continent is at its spectacular best. Expect sunlight up to 24 hours a day, and summer temperatures varying between lows of 5 to 10F and highs of 35 to 60F. Guests will be accompanied by a team of eminent naturalists, geologists, zoologists, historians and ornithologists, experts whose education, field research and personal accomplishments make them ideal companies for Antarctica. Every day guests will meet for a briefings or wrap-ups, and as one of the limited number of guests on board, it is easy to exchange ideas with these friendly and enthusiastic educators. Explorer Cruises plan on making two landings delay in the safe and stable inflatable rubber Zodiac boats. Each will be let by one of the knowledgeable guides, so that guests are assured of a highly personalized sightseeing and learning experience. Landings are subject to weather, ice conditions and wildlife sightings. The determinations will be made by the Captain, together with the ice masters and Expedition Leader. Naturally, it is hoped that you will be able to visit all the places mentioned in your itinerary. However, if the forays ashore vary, the quality of your experience will not. Every mile along the Antarctic coast offers stunning scenery and wildlife. |
