Reignite The Spark Aboard Some Of The Most Romantic Cruises

Posted August 13th, 2015

From a shore excursion that includes a romantic meal at an Alain Ducasse restaurant in the south of France to a Champagne-soaked, onboard sunset dinner, couples inspired by love may want to consult a new list of romantic cruise experiences from the world’s leading lines.

The Cruise Lines International Association has come up with a list of some of the romantic services offered on leading cruise lines, be it for onboard or shore excursions.

Here’s a selection of ideas this year:

Excursion To The French Riviera

Celebrity Cruises offers a shore excursion that involves a 30-minute flight over Provence, France, and a Michelin-starred meal at the Alain Ducasse restaurant La Bastide de Moustiers. Couples can stroll hand in hand in the restaurant’s picture-perfect gardens, where the ingredients for their four-course meal are grown, and take in the quiet beauty of the French countryside.

Greek Islands With Celestyal Cruises

The itinerary speaks for itself: a cruise through the Greek islands, including the epicentre of Mediterranean romance, Santorini. On the three-day Four Greek Islands & Turkey cruise, guests learn how to cook favourite Greek recipes onboard, and get to sample local authentic meals once on land.

Champagne & Strawberries Aboard The MSC

Want to surprise your partner? Book the MSC’s Romantic Sunset package, which comes with a bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne and serves chocolate-covered strawberries at sunset.

In love with these lines

Likewise, US News and World Report compiled its own list of most romantic cruise lines and gave Silversea Cruises the top spot for creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere. Services include onboard spa treatments, wine tastings and culinary demonstrations, as well as a romantic dinner at the only Relais & Chateaux restaurant at sea, Le Champagne.

Cruisecritic.com, meanwhile, put its money on Princess Cruises, the original Love Boat, for activities like Movies Under the Stars and the Ultimate Balcony Dining experience, an add-on that features a lobster and Champagne dinner, a personal cabaret singer and dancing.
