Radiance Of The Seas - A Customer's View

Posted January 25th, 2013

Frazer Dobson booked his Radiance of the Seas cruise with Cruiseabout Lane Cove in NSW last year. It was his first cruise and he was so excited about cruising when he got back that he immediately sent us a review on his experience and went off to book his next cruise holiday!

Here is what he had to say:

Overall Impressions

Radiance of the Seas is an amazing ship, it has everything you need on board and the staff are welcoming, warm and friendly people who do everything possible to ensure you have a good time whilst on board.

Being a first time cruiser I was unsure what to expect and I have been blown away by the cruise and will certainly be booking again within the year!

Dress Code On Board

All days on board were casual and shorts, t-shirts and thongs were more than acceptable so comfort is key!

On the evening when Formal attire is suggested everyone made a good effort and it gives the ship an amazing atmosphere as everyone is dressed up and it gives the night a certain level of class.

Gratuities

I pre-paid my gratuities via Cruiseabout however once on board I received such excellent service that I found myself tipping the staff more. They are more than happy with $10 and this is nothing for the work that they do throughout the cruise.

Cabins

I stayed in cabin 1008 on deck 10 which is in the forward section on the ship. The cabin was spacious – I was staying with a friend on board and there was more than enough room for both of us. It had everything that we needed and was cleaned daily, most times twice daily by our cabin attendant.

I would recommend a balcony stateroom as having the outside space is definitely beneficial, especially for shore days when the ship is docking, the views are amazing!

Dining

We dined in the main restaurant every evening except one when we dined in Ritas Cantina. The food in the main dining hall was amazing and a three course meal was served every evening with a variety of selections to cater to anyones taste.

The food was so good in the main dining hall that there was no reason to go to the specialty restaurants which is why we only tried one.

Entertainment

The shows on board the Radiance are spectacular! Both outside acts and the Radiance entertainment team. One of the highlights was the Radiance Christmas show which showed just how amazingly hard the show team were working.

Spa & Fitness

Whilst on board I used the fitness suite everyday and was impressed at the variety of machines to use and the space in which to use them. The gym was never over run and I never had to wait for a machine.

I also had a full Swedish massage aboard and the quality of the spa is fantastic.

Family Cruise

The cruise would be more than suitable for a family. I travelled with friends, however there are a variety of activities to keep the children busy as well as the adults!

Public Areas

I was astounded at how clean all the public areas were throughout the cruise as it must be difficult to keep the ship clean with 3,000 people constantly on board. However, they managed to do just this although I never saw anyone doing the cleaning – amazing!

Destination/Shore Excurisons

I didn’t use the shore excursions offered on board, mainly as I had previously visited the destinations of the cruise. However, the selection they had on offer was great and varied.

Overall

I would definitely recommend a cruise with Royal Caribbean to anyone, Radiance of the Seas is an amazing experience and I will be boarding again as soon as I can.

Before going I had a certain view of cruises and who would be on board but all of my pre-conceptions were proven to be wrong. Since returning I have recommended a cruise to many of my friends and some of them have booked already. I am already looking to book again for November this year and will most definitely be booking via Cruiseabout as they made the booking, preparation and embarkation of the cruise so easy and stress free.

If, like Frazer, you have just come back from your first cruise, we would love to hear from you! Send us your reviews today!
