Oceania Marina Exceeding All Expectations

Posted April 29th, 2014

From the minute we stepped on board this exquisitely styled ship, Oceania Marina, all senses were alert and aware with the finest attention to detail paid in every area, service, style, taste & sound.  I was immediately taken aback by the vase like table which is the centre piece at the base of their grand stairway, the table was beautiful & valued at $1.5million dollars.  I learnt about it’s value in the first 5mins onboard so I knew that as an art lover this ship was going to surpass all of my expectations.

Oceania Marina berthed in Brisbane

Marina is a luxury small–medium sized ship weighing in at 66,084 tonnes & accommodating 1,258 passengers, it sits as part of Oceania's fleet of 5 ships.

During our tour we viewed the speciality dining areas, the first being Jacques, a French restaurant that had been tastefully decorated in French Provincial furniture. The floor boards in this restaurant came from the French barn of the chef who this restaurant was created & inspired by.

Red Ginger, another speciality dining restaurant whose trendy interior really lived up to its name, evoked an authentic Asian feel with its red & black interior & when we were served a taster from this menu it's contemporary Asian flavours far exceeded my expectations.

The art & styling on this ship in the public areas was trendy, stylish & sophisticated, with pieces of displays of Marino Glass & internationally inspired artwork. I have included a few images to give you a feel of the trendiness of the art on this ship & the contemporary yet sophisticated styling.

While on board we were privileged to receive a sneak peek into the taste sensations of each of the restaurants on board.  The food met every expectation and  more, with each of the 5 courses exceeding my expectations & delighting my taste buds, with the dessert of A la Minute Poached Floating Island, Pink Praline and Roasted Pistachio Cream was simply divine.

Over all Marina exceeded my expectations and across the board, service, style & dining received a 5 out of 5.
