Norwegian Jewel – The latest cruise ship to call Australia home

Posted September 7th, 2016

As part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) international expansion and commitment to offering new and exotic itineraries, the Norwegian Jewel will be based in Australia during the Fall/Winter 2017/2018 cruise season. Beginning in November, 2017, the Norwegian Jewel is due to embark on a series of dazzling trips from Sydney, providing its 2,376 passengers and 1,100 crew members with an array of colourful and exciting experiences.

The Norwegian Jewel’s inaugural season in Australia will see the ship voyage to both domestic gems and international wonders. Shorter Sydney round-trip cruises will explore destinations such as Geelong, Eden, Burnie and Kangaroo Island. Visits to neighbour New Zealand are sure to delight guests who will fall in love with iconic destinations such as Milford Sound, Wellington and the Bay of Islands.

Departing on February 20, 2018, the Norwegian Jewel will travel from Sydney to Tokyo on an epic 40-day adventure, with stops in places such as Brisbane, Darwin, Bali, Komodo Island, Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul.

Guests can choose from six categories of accommodation: The Haven, Suite, Mini-Suite, Balcony, Oceanview and Inside. Within these categories, there is a variety of rooms and configurations available. For example, you and your family could choose The Haven 2-Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony, which accommodates up to six people and has a living area, dining area, private balcony and a separate kids’ bedroom. Or you may opt for The Haven 3-Bedroom Garden Villa, which sleeps up to eight guests and features a private bath with every bedroom.

With so much choice, all travellers will be able to find the perfect room to suit their tastes, needs and budget.

The Haven

Spicy, mild, vegetarian, sweet, traditional, modern, healthy – you name it and the Norwegian Jewel will serve it up. In addition to a number of speciality restaurants, such as Cagney’s Steakhouse and La Cucina, guests can satisfy their appetites at several complimentary dining options, including two main dining rooms and a self-service buffet. At the main dining rooms, the menu also changes on a daily basis, meaning your taste buds will be kept guessing.

The Norwegian Jewel will also pay homage to its new abode, with a focus on local Aussie cuisine, including regional beef, seafood and lamb.

Every day spent on board this stunning ship will present passengers with the chance to do and experience something different. You could get active and embrace your competitive spirit with a game of basketball, volleyball or dodgeball. You could make the most of the southern hemisphere’s amazing weather and while away a few hours in the swimming pool before relaxing in a hot tub. Or you could retreat to the onboard library for some quality reading time. With many more amenities and activities available, the options are endless.

When you’re not indulging in a cocktail or two at one of the 15 lounges and bars on board, there is plenty of entertainment lined up for you to enjoy. Le Cirque Bijou will wow you and fellow guests with thrilling acrobatics, gymnastics, dancing, singing and even bungee-jumping! Meanwhile, Burn the Floor is a mesmerising theatrical experience which showcases the amazing skills of talented dancers who perform everything from the foxtrot and tango to the cha cha and samba.
