New Carnival Ship Name Announced

Posted July 23rd, 2013

This week, Carnival Cruise Lines announced that their next ship, set to début in 2016, will be named Carnival Vista.

The line's 25th and largest vessel will incorporate many of the elements introduced on Carnival Breeze, which was launched last year. However, it was also revealed that a number of new ideas are under consideration which will make Vista stand out, but Carnival are remaining tight-lipped on the details for now.

Carnival Vista will have some similarities to the new Carnival Breeze

Chief Marketing Executive, Jim Berra, did say that the onboard offering would be "extremely connected to the ocean." The 4,000-passenger vessel will offer ocean vistas from multiple spaces onboard. "We're starting to use the ship names as a touchstone for how we think about the design," Berra said. "A lot of what we are thinking about for the design and the inspiration (for Carnival Vista) is views out to the ocean." Berra added. "At the end of the day, that is why people are cruising. They want the salt air. They want the ocean breeze. They want to look out and sea the ocean."

Carnival has slowed orders for new ships in recent years, and the Carnival Vista is its only vessel on order for delivery over the next 3 years. The line currently operates 24 ships, making it the world's largest cruise line.
