Footy Fields Of Fun On Carnival Legend
Carnival Legend will be sailing seasonally from Sydney from next month, so to prepare you for her arrival, we wanted to give you the down-low on what you can expect on Carnival Australia's latest member of her Aussie family.
Carnival Legend is 3 football fields long and 12 decks tall of fun things to do, see, taste and try. With a recent refurbishment under her belt, she is everything Australians love about Carnival Spirit and more. There is a waterpark, mini-golf, a 2-deck fitness centre, a jogging track, a sports court, a Serenity adults-only area, a day spa, pools, kids clubs, 16 bars and lounges and much, much more. So, where do you start?
Generally, the first place you go once you have embarked on a ship is your cabin, so lets start there. On Carnival Legend, 80% of the cabins are outside, and 80% of those cabins have balconies, so your chances of bagging your own private balcony are good! All of Legend's cabins and suites are spacious and tastefully furnished, with twin beds that convert to a queen; lots of storage space; a television, private bathroom and a refrigerator (plus more). Whether you choose an interior, an outside, a balcony, inter-connecting cabins or a suite, your cabin will be the perfect haven to relax after a full day of onboard activities or exploring ashore.
More on Carnival Cruises
After you've checked out your cabin, you head to the buffet or the dining room - embarkation made you hungry, and it is lunch time after all! So, lets head there next. Carnival Legend offers a casual buffet eatery for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but for any of these meals, you can also head to the main dining room for a full-service meal. Dinner is a 3-course affair in the main dining room, and is sure to wow your socks off. If you are after something special, then try The Golden Fleece - the speciality steakhouse on board Legend. And, a new feature on board is Bonsai Sushi, where you can dine amongst bonsai trees, enjoy festive koi kite celebrations and feast on a menu of sushi rolls, sashimi, sushi boats and sake.
Carnival Legend was actually the first ship in the Carnival fleet to test flexible dining times in the main restaurant, and you can still choose traditional dining (main or late seatings) or dine any time between 5.30pm and 9.30pm.
Right, so now its time to explore the ship. And with 12 decks (catering to 2,124 passengers and 930 crew), 16 bars and lounges, indoor and outdoor promenades, swimming pools, eateries, a waterpark, a sports court and fitness centre, an adults-only area, kids areas and so much more - you're in for a big day of exploring! But, isn't that where the fun starts? Carnival Legend (post-refurbishment) is now a mix of old Legend favourites and new legend-ary features, like the RedFrog Pub, Bonsai Sushi and Cherry on Top. The fun is non-stop onboard, so take your time and enjoy it all!
Your kids are sure to absolutely LOVE Carnival Legend. There a host of family-friendly onboard activities, including the waterpark (with the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea - Green Thunder, a twister slide and a kids splash zone); mini-golf; family-friendly comedy shows; and 3 different age-appropriate youth programs. Kids aged 2 to 11 will love Camp Carnival, where they will be split up further into age groups (2 to 5; 6 to 8; 9 to 11), while Circle "C" is the perfect hang-out spot for kids aged 12 to 14. Teenagers (aged 15 to 17) will find their haven at Club 02, where they can escape their parents and younger siblings and chill out with kids their own age.
So, Where Are We Going?
Carnival Legend leaves California on 30 August for a 23-day cruise to Sydney, arriving on 22 September. She will cruise a series of 8 to 12 day cruises throughout New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji, until April 2015.
