Family Fun on the New Norwegian Escape
Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship ever to be built – Norwegian Escape – will offer the most exhilarating and action-packed activities for families and thrill seekers alike when she sets sail from her homeport of Miami in November 2015.
Currently being built in Germany, Norwegian Escape is set to debut on 14 November 2015 for her maiden voyage, and will then sail weekly 7 day cruises around the Eastern Caribbean. The 164,600 gross ton ship will be the largest ever to homeport year-round in Miami, and will carry 4,200 guests to tropical Caribbean destinations, including St. Thomas. U.S. Virgin Islands, Nassau, Bahamas and many more!
This family-friendly ship will feature the largest ropes course at sea, a three-story multiplex of heart-pounding challenges, complete with 2 plans and 5 Sky Rails, zip tracks that allow you to soar through the air. Norwegian Escape’s Aqua Park will be the largest at sea, and includes a new Aqua Racer slide, while the expansive sports complex boasts a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mini-golf course.
Adding to the family fun, the ship will also feature an expanded kid’s Aqua Park; entertainment from Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids; and the line’s first dedicated nursery for cruisers two and under.
Sports Complex and Aqua Park
Norwegian Escape’s Ropes Course will soar to new heights, daring guests of all ages to conquer 99 different elements. The 3-story elevated ropes course will span the entire width of the sip, with features on both the port and starboard sides of the ship. With 2 Planks, 6-inch wide beams that extend 8 feet from the side of the ship, your nerves will really be tested. The course’s exhilarating Sky Rails will put the wind in your hair and a smile on your face, as you glide through the air on zip tracks, with the longest one bringing you out over the side of the ship and giving you a bird’s eye view of the ship that is a must-see! There are 3 Sky Rails on the main Ropes Course and 2 on the Kids’ Ropes Course, which offers kid-size fun, challenges and feats.
The Aqua Park onboard Norwegian Escape will be the largest at sea, and will feature 4 multi-story water slides, a dedicated Kid’s Aqua Park, 2 pools and 4 hot tubs. All-new on Norwegian Escape is the Aqua Racer slide, the newest tandem waterslide at sea where you can race side-by-side against friends and family, twisting and turning to the finish line.
The ship will also feature a fan favourite – the Free Fall, which first debuted on Norwegian Breakaway. These slides offer adventurous cruisers the chance to literally free fall, as the slide drops out from underneath you, propelling you into a thrilling loop. But, for those of you who prefer a more relaxing, less adrenalin-pumping ride, there is also the family-friendly open-flume body slide.
The Kid’s Aqua Park will also be taken to a whole new level, with enhanced attraction including an enclosed tube slide and a 2-story climbing structure for kids to explore. This watery wonderland offers and incredible array of new features for kids, including a number of interactive wet elements like water cannons and elevated buckets that drench those standing underneath. The park offers endless fun for children and is sure to leave the littlest of guests delighted and grinning from ear to ear.
Norwegian Escape’s sports complex includes a full-sized basketball court for family-friendly competition, and a new bocce ball court – a first for the cruise line. You can also test your skills on the new 9-hole Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rooftop 9 mini-golf course, which will have you shouting “turtle power” when you sink a hole-in-one alongside Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo.
Norwegian Escape will be the 6th Norwegian ship to offer Nickelodeon branded entertainment, which will delight your kids with the latest in Nickelodeon activities and events, including an opportunity to meet SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Dora the Explorer, among others. Kids will also be able to participate in a variety of exciting interactive experiences, like the Nickelodeon Pyjama Jam Breakfast; Dora’s Dance Party and Story Time with Dora.
In a first for Norwegian Cruise Line, as part of the Guppies program, Norwegian Escape will offer childcare services 6 months to 3 years. The nursery will include an active area for play time and age-appropriate activities, and a separate space for nap time. In addition to the nursery services, the Guppies program will also offer a dedicated open play area for parents and babies to play together, featuring sensory-based games, interactive media and themed activities hosted by an early year’s co-ordinator.
The Splash Academy complex on Deck 5 will offer age-appropriate supervised activities for children aged 3 to 12. Adjacent to the ship’s family-friendly oceanview rooms, accommodating up to 5 guests, this complete is centrally and conveniently located. Parents will be able to use the e-Youth tablet-based electronic registration system to swipe their keycards and register their children, offering additional safety for drop-offs and pick-ups.
The Splash Academy has different spaces for specific age groups, along with a Nickelodeon themed night and activities, New on Norwegian escape, children participating in the program will enjoy an enhanced version of the popular Circus program, with additional skill options and an innovative grand finale. Children will be able to participate in Officer Snook Theme Day, a program that shares an environmental message through games and activities.
