Experience Stylish Inspiration On Refurbished Pacific Explorer
Cruiseabout Karen Evans highlights P&O’s new styling, services and facilities that come with Pacific Explorer’s recent refurbishment.
Favourite part of the ship?
My standout has to be when I first stood in the jaw-dropping Atrium. The Atrium is very elegant with beautiful styling, double glass lifts, and window seats. Not only is this area gorgeous, it is also a great hang out to just enjoy the ship. I sighed contentedly every time I walked through it.
Favourite area to relax?
Beyond the Atrium my strongest recommendation for a great place to relax for adults is Oasis over 18+. This area has I love the design and décor of the day beds and funky cushions, but most of all the two spas and whirlpool that are nice and secluded, out of the wind, and also covered for the hot days.
Standout food experience?
Foodies will rejoice with the vast array of different cuisines all serving fantastic quality food – places like the new 400 Gradi brainchild of famed Melbourne pizza chef Johnny Di Francesco, who is also winner of the Best Pizza in the World 2014.
Another absolute must for the food devotee is the Waterfront Restaurant which has had an amazing refurbishment – embrace your inner gourmet and book Luke Mangan's Chefs Table, for a 6 Course degustastion that comes with an amazing wine list – perfect for that a truly indulgent cuisine experience.
Then there are the 12 dining options included in the cruise fare and you’ll find three stylish, a la carte restaurants and nine eateries in The Pantry which are all included in your cruise fare. Restaurants like the Dragon Lady Asian Infusion restaurant or you can try Angelo's Italian for a sample of cannoli and tiramasu.
What’s the entertainment like?
All of the dining options can be sweetly capped off with a nightcap at the Blue Room that is the place to be late at night for you to enjoy a selection of talented home-grown Australian musicians. Or book a ticket to Black Circus takes a glamorous cabaret style show or the new stage show Let’s Misbehave.
During the day you can get stuck into all the activities at the Kids Interactive Water fun park and P&O Edge Adventure Park with plenty of activities for both kids and adults. And when you have had enough of the water, you can head off and play barefoot bowls or challenge yourself with a little more daring stuff like zip lining, rock climbing or walking the plank.
What was really special for you?
I loved the little hidden touches included in the new styling like the Toucans, jewelry boxes, quirky art pieces, and of course the polar bear in the lift to greet you. Then there is the new P&O Home store which is an absolute must for homeware enthusiasts, and what a great way to spend your onboard credit. The attention to detail in the Pacific Explorer's refresh really adds a great boost to an already great cruising experience.
