Emerald Princess To Cruise From Australia In 2016
Australia could be on its way to becoming one of the world's largest cruise hubs, with the news that Princess Cruises will be adding Emerald Princess to its Australia-based fleet in 2016 - the biggest Princess ship to be based in Sydney so far.
The 3082-passenger ship will join the existing fleet of 5 based in Australia in late 2016 for its debut cruise season Down Under. When it arrives, Australia will be home to the largest Princess Cruises fleet outside of the US with a record 5 ships. Emerald Princess will be based in Sydney from November 2016 to April 2017.
It is one of the largest cruise ships in the Princess global fleet and one of the youngest to be deployed to the Australia and New Zealand region. Launched in 2007, Emerald Princess features 13 dining options, 8 showrooms and lounges, 2 nightclubs, 4 swimming pools (including a swim-against-the-current lap pool), 9-hole putting course, poolside Movies Under the Stars and the luxurious Lotus Spa.
Speciality dining options include The Crown Grill, recently voted one of the "Best Cruise Ship Steakhouses" by USA Today, featuring premium beef and seafood items; and Sabatini's Italian restaurant.
Princess Cruises Vice President Australia & New Zealand, Stuart Allison, said that Emerald Princess would cruise from Sydney while the other 4 ships would continue to offer sailings from Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle and Sydney. Emerald Princess will offer itineraries to New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific - full details are set to be released in March, along with the full 2016-17 program for all Princess Cruises ships.
The Emerald Princess is currently in the Caribbean where she will spend the northern winter, and then make her way to Europe and the Mediterranean.
