COMO's Luxury Yacht Opens Up Maldivian Seas

Posted February 16th, 2016

Those staying at either Cocoa Island or Maalifushi resorts in the Maldives can now cruise around the islands in a new luxurious yacht.

COMO Hotels and Resorts has just unveiled its first leisure cruising vessel, a 68-foot Hatteras yacht named Cameron.

A live-aboard ship, Cameron is open for hire by any of the resorts' guests who can swap their elegant rooms on land for exquisite accommodation on water and experience both atolls.

Available for hourly or multi-night charters, Cameron grants guests the opportunity of seeing whale shark migrations up close or adding a little more spice to their honeymoon.

Although usually anchored at Maalifushi, guests at Cocoa Island can book the vessel as well, which lives up to the hotel brand's promise of unmatched luxury.

The yacht is crewed by staff depending on your itinerary – chefs for daily picnics, specialist instructors for night diving, a marine biologist for family-friendly snorkelling or fishing guides to help you hook that elusive marlin.

Exclusive and private, Cameron features an air-conditioned fly bridge, walnut-lined lounge and three cabins (master suite, queen and twin) with ensuites. The overall ambience holds that signature elegance of COMO's hotels.

COMO Cameron

Cameron sticks to a smooth speed of 32 knots, making it a night's sailing between the two resorts. However, the journey can be extended to include stops at white-sand islets where you can sleep under the night sky.

Cocoa Island, position on the South Male Atoll, is home to 33 overwater suites with a private reef that's heaven for snorkelling and scuba diving enthusiasts.

Maalifushi sits amongst a collection of uninhabited islands on Thaa Atoll, and features COMO Shambhala spa therapies and excellent surf opportunities.

Expect to pay a considerable amount for such high-class luxury. The Cameron starts at AUD$2,260 for a two-hour sunset cruise and AUD$22,000 for a 24-hour trip between resorts. Prices include all meals and non-alcoholic drinks.

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
