Celebrity Cruises to Deploy Two Ships in Australia in 2014-15

Posted April 9th, 2013

Royal Caribbean Managing Director, Gavin Smith, has announced that two Celebrity Cruises vessels will be deployed in Australia in the 2014-15 cruise season.

Celebrity Solstice will return to Australia for its third consecutive season in 2014-15, and will be joined by 1,800-passenger Celebrity Century.

Celebrity Century will head to Australian waters in 2014

This announcement follows a highly successful inaugural season for Solstice this year, with the premium ship departing Sydney yesterday for Alaska.

Celebrity Century was built in 1995, and is smaller than the 2,850-passenger Solstice. It's a more "classic" vessel, Smith Said, but incorporates a range of Celebrity Cruises' contemporary features, including about 50% balcony cabins, an ice bar and a 9,000 square foot spa area.

The Century season will see the ship operate 11 Australian-based voyages over a three month period before redeploying to Singapore in January 2015. This smaller ship will call in at a number of new destination of Celebrity, including Port Lincoln in South Australia, Burnie in Tasmania and Cairns in Queensland.
