Celebrity Cruises Caters to Kids

Posted September 14th, 2012

We often get asked whether premium cruise line Celebrity Cruises caters for children, so we just had to share this picture with you!

Celebrity Cruises caters to kids with a wide range of fun and educational programs and partnerships. "We have sports, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts and exciting themed activities," said Enrichment Programs Specialist Kevin McCormack. For example, youth counsellors will dress as pirates and lead kids on a hunt for a treasure chest, or host a "teddy bear picnic" indoors or on the lawn of the Solstice-class ships. "We have plenty of family activities, including bingo nights and movies on some ships," added McCormack.

Programs for Celebrity's young travellers are available year round, from 9am each morning. The program is tailored to 5 different age groups - Toddler Time (under 3 years old); Shipmates (ages 3 - 5); Cadets (ages 6 - 8); Ensigns (ages 9 - 11) and Teens (ages 12 - 17).

Celebrity Cruises has also established partnerships with the Nerdel Company, which makes puppets for Sesame Street, as well as with Leapfrog, which supplies educational games for children from toddlers to 1o-year olds. "Through our Nerdel program we promote healthy eating and nutrition, such as a pizza cooking class," said Clint Wells, specialist in guest activities and youth programs. "Our young guests can also make paper and sock puppets."

Through a partnership with the Corning Museum of Glass, children on Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Eclipse can draw a design to be created during the Hot Glass Show, said Wells. Artists from the Arts Centre of South Florida also come on board some ships to do projects with youngsters in the Fun Factories.

Other activities on board Celebrity ships include a kid's olympics for the younger set and glow-stick parties and DJs for teens. "Our youth counsellors get to know our guests' names and favourite activities," Wells added. "We get many compliments about our personalised service from returning guests of all ages."
