Carnival Spirit Snippets

Some of our Cruise Specialists recently had the opportunity to cruise on board Carnival Spirit, and we wanted to share with you the different views they each had about cruising on this "Fun Ship".

Alley Souza from Cruiseabout Concord:

"A couple of weekends ago I spent a fantastic weekend on board the Carnival Spirit on a 3 night cruise. I am absolutely crazy about those short cruises. Not that I don't like the long ones, quite the opposite, but the those cruises give you that much needed break without compromising much of your annual leave.

The Carnival Spirit is a beautiful ship, with a lot offer and the first thing I did on board was to have a walk around, to make sure I knew where everything where, as also to chat with the guys at the Spa, as they always have great deal for the first day. As Saturday was cold and raining, I ended up spending the day inside the ship, and took part in some on board activities (which I normally wouldn't do, as I'm always by the pool). Felling a bit uncertain, I decided to take part in the Scavenger Hunt, where you go around the ship as a team, collecting answers for a bunch of different questions.

The hunt started, and my partner and I started running like crazy, trying to get our way around the ship, searching for answers on our questionnaire, trying not to get lost... it was sooo much fun! This is one the thing I love the most about cruising, every time you cruise, there is always something that will blow your mind!"

Matthew Powell, Cruiseabout Mitcham:

"As soon as I saw the Carnival Spirit from a distance, I was really impressed with it's size. It is a really big ship, and this is something that is not always immediately complimented towards this ship. My eyes were then drawn to the Green Thunder Waterslide right on the top deck. I knew it was going to be part of my fun for the weekend, and I landed up trying both waterslides!

On the first day, we enquired to book into the speciality restaurant Nouveau. This restaurant is so popular that the only time that were able to make a reservation for a meal was on that first night, so we did just that. This restaurant is amazing and has a wide selection of steaks and seafood. I chose to have the Surf and Turf, which came out as a steak and half a Lobster tail which was cooked to absolute perfection.

During the day there are a few pools that you can relax around. The most popular one was mid-ship and this catered really well to families with kids. As I don't have kids, I was much more relaxed in the adults-only Serenity area. This is reserved for adults over 18 years and is a great place to relax and watch the ocean.

All up, I had an absolutely amazing time on the Carnival Spirit and would recommend it to anyone, whether travelling as a Single, Couple or as a family."

Matthew Robinson, Cruiseabout Biggera Waters:

"Even though I was only on a three night cruise I find it hard to think you could ever get bored on the Carnival Spirit, from an adults-only area to waterslides, numerous bars, fitness and wellness spas and extensive children's facilities, there is literally ship loads to do.

Two things stood out about the Spirit for me, the first being the exceptional stateroom service and staff in general were extremely attentive and all knew my name before I had seen my cabin for the first time! And the second was the food! I was really impressed with all meals I had at the main dining room, Empire, and my sole experience of the specialty dining restaurant Nouveau was memorable to say the least with perfectly cooked steak and sides, combined with breathtaking views of Sydney harbour as we set off made it a very enjoyable experience.

I went to one show in the theatre, The Pharaohs Lounge, which was a magic show/dance choreography show which was ok , but the adult’s-only comedy show left me in tears...it was THAT good!!

All in all the Carnival Spirit is a great ship and they really live up to their slogan of being the ‘FUN’ ship. With endless activities, lots of food options, large staterooms and exceptional service I will gladly sail with them again."
