Butler Service

Butlers On The River

Posted July 4th, 2017

River cruises certainly present travellers with an array of advantages, from a friendly, intimate atmosphere on board to immersive itineraries that explore the heart of different countries. A high crew-to-guest ratio means that passengers on river cruises enjoy highly personalised service, for example; staff greeting guests by name. An onboard butler service however, takes things to the next level. If you want to feel like royalty on your next voyage, read on.  Below we’ve shone a spotlight on the incredible butler services many river cruises offer.

Afternoon tea aboard a Uniworld Ship

Uniworld

For passengers staying in suites aboard the cruise line’s European fleet, butler service akin to that found at 5-star hotels is part of the package.  Butlers aboard Uniworld’s ships have been trained at England’s famous Ivor Spencer butler school. These trained professionals provide a range of services, from unpacking luggage upon your arrival, to managing laundry needs such as clothes pressing, in-room dining and packing luggage upon your departure. Fancy a pre-dinner cocktail,  hand-delivered to your room while you dress for dinner? Need help with the zip on your dress, a cufflink or a shoe horn? Not a problem - your butler will also be on hand to accommodate any special requests you may have during your cruise.

Scenic's service is always on point

Scenic

With an emphasis on personal touches, Scenic goes the extra mile with its signature butler service. All butlers serving with Scenic are trained at the International Butler Academy and are required to meet the highest standards of Head Butler Peter Wyss’. Wyss has over 15 years of experience in providing 5-star service and has a professional sommelier degree.

Scenic butlers provide a host of services, from managing refreshments, mini-bar facilities,  laundry, shoeshine and in-suite meals, to a sophisticated nightly turndown service.  Valet services, inclusive of transfer arrangements, salon appointments and shore bookings is also offered to guests.
