Azamara Journey Unveils State-Of-The-Art Refit

Posted February 7th, 2016

The future of Azamara Club Cruises is here. Azamara Journey, one of the two ships undergoing a state-of-the-art upgrade, has recently emerged from dry dock with brand new venues, technology and guest amenities.

"There is no area on the ship that has not been touched," said Larry Pimentel, President and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises. "We can't wait to have our new and loyal guests on board to see what we have done. It's gorgeous and provides all the modern services and amenities that today's traveller needs and demands. I think we have exceeded expectations."

With help from world-leading designers, Azamara has overhauled the ship's stateroom's and suites with stone and porcelain, along with adding two new Spa Suites next to the Sanctum Spa.

Enhancements to dining and entertainment areas have also been made. But enough build up. Here are some of the highlights on the upgraded Azamara Journey.

Azamara Journey

The Patio

Guest favourite, The Patio, is now a sit-down al fresco dining experience with candle-lit meals and an elegant ambience.

The menu has also been refreshed and will be accompanied by live music and ocean views. A new Swirl & Top self-serve frozen yogurt station has been added for dessert (or whenever your sweet tooth aches).

Discoveries Restaurant & Discoveries Bar

New decor, seating and atmosphere can be expected at Discoveries Restaurant, while Discoveries Bar has been given updated seating including sofas so comfortable they will rock you to sleep.

Windows Cafe

For those who prefer to eat inside, Windows Cafe is completely refreshed with modern furniture, couples-focused tables.

The popular Sunset Bar remains with that same memorable view, but this time it's got a rejuvenated look that will delight regular and first-time guests.

Living Room

Formerly the 'Looking Glass Lounge', the improved Living Room offers that same cozy resting space, only with new chairs, a dedicated wine table and exciting events/entertainment.

From 10am to 3.30pm guests can enjoy exquisite tea and coffee, along with pastries, finger sandwiches and sweets. In the afternoon and at night (4pm til 9pm) the Living Room serves up hot and cold tapas accompanied by various vino.

Expect plenty of live music, dancing karaoke and sets by talented DJs in the evening, while keeping your eye out for the next surprise, such as specialty desserts for one night only.

Casino & Spirits

Rounding out the list is the Casino, which now features new slot machines and an updated Spirits bar with cocktails so close some might say it's risky business.

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
