Avalon Waterways Unveils New Active Discovery Cruises
Those who claim river cruising is too "chilled out" for their liking won't have any excuse next year when Avalon Waterways kicks off its Active Discovery cruises.
Taking part in Europe, the specialty 'Active Discovery on the Danube' will offer action-packed itineraries with cycling, hiking, canoeing and more during nine days of cruising between Budapest and Linz.
“Our Active Discovery itinerary gives cruisers the opportunity to bike, hike and canoe along the Danube,” Mr Fundell said.
“They can also explore an ice cave, take an archery lesson, go underground in a salt mine or ascend a mountain on a guided climb. This is European travel with a focus on enjoying every moment of the journey.”
Travellers will be able to select from eight Active Discovery cruises between July and October, 2017. Some of the experiences will include:
- Vienna cooking class
- Private Habsburg art collection viewing
- Trek along a World War II smugglers route
- Brewery tour at Engelszwell Abbey
The eight Active Discovery cruises join a list of more than 50 other Avalon Waterways cruises in 2017, some of which feature another new initiative. The Avalon Fresh dining concept will showcase new menu items from two Austrian chefs, brothers Karl and Leo Wrenkh.
To celebrate the new offerings, Avalon guests can currently enjoy free flights with all 2017 European cruises of 15 days or more, or discounted airfares with cruises of 7-14 days. Bookings must be made before 31 May, 2016, in order to take advantage.
