2012-13 Summer Cruise Season starts Friday!
Radiance of the Seas, the first international ship to arrive in Australia, will be docking in Sydney's Oversea Passenger Terminal at 6am on Friday, launching the start of Australia's biggest record-breaking "wave season".
The six-month schedule (the "wave season") includes many new ships, including the largest, the newest and the most luxurious to every call Australia home. As we mentioned in our blog last week, Royal Caribbean will carry more than 200,000 passengers across their 4 vessels, including 2 of the biggest cruise ships to ever be based in Australia - Voyager of the Seas and Celebrity Solstice. Plus, there will also be a brief visit from Celebrity Millennium.
Carnival Australia will have 19 ships carrying 325,000 passengers and making 310 calls to Australian ports during this
cruise season. A record 14 of those ships will be based in Australia for all or some of the 2012-13 wave, with another 5 ships visiting as part of their world voyages.
Highlights of the season definitely include the local début of Carnival Spirit, and the maiden calls from Seabourn Quest and Holland America Line's Oosterdam. Queen Mary 2 will also be returning, and doing an inaugural circumnavigation of New Zealand.
