100 Days until MSC Divina Launches

Posted February 29th, 2012

MSC Cruises has begun the final countdown until the launch of it's newest addition to the fleet, MSC Divina, which is set to debut in less than 100 days on 26 May. Set to be christened by her Godmother, movie siren Sophia Loren, Divina is currently undergoing final touches in the STX Europe shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

"Locksmiths, electricians, coppersmiths, mechanics, carpenters, decorators, marble fitters, light technicians, insulation and airconditioning technicians have been working solidly, along with kitchen designers and supervisors," said Lynne Clarke, Managing Director of MSC Cruises Australia and New Zealand.

"In fact, that list represents just some of the many trades involved in the fitting and furnishing of the 4,363-passenger luxury cruise ship," she added. When completed, it is estimated that just over 2.2 million hours will have been spent on Divina's construction, with an extra 1 million hours spent on her "finishing touches". The 18-deck Divina is the 12th ship in the MSC fleet, and measures in at 333 metres long and 38 metres wide.
