Launched in 2005, Viking Sun was specifically designed for sailing along the Rhine in comfort and elegance. Viking Sun was planned to give guests optimal viewing of the picturesque scenery along the Rhine, with sizable windows in staterooms, a 360-degree view from the sundeck, and panoramic views on offer in the observation lounge and the restaurant.
Viking Sun can accommodate up to 198 guests in 99 spacious outside staterooms, which include 37 French Balcony, 30 Deluxe and 32 Standard cabins, each with hotel-style beds, a private bathroom, in-room safe, telephone, TV, hair dryer and individual climate control. Viking Sun’s onboard features include a sun deck with a shaded seating area, an observation lounge and bar, an elegant restaurant with panoramic views, an onboard boutique, a library and a free ship-wide wireless internet. Viking Sun also offers an array of onboard and onshore cultural activities to complement the regions you are exploring, including immersive and enhancing activities and workshops offered on the ship. Due to the nature of its river cruise itineraries, Viking River Cruises does not offer facilities or services for children onboard their vessels. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanies by a parent, legal guardian or other responsible adult over the age of 21, and they must share a cabin. Children under the age of 12 cannot be accommodated.
Viking Sun offers fine dining at its best. Breakfast and lunch are casual affairs, with a variety of delicious foods on offers. However, dinner is an indulgent five-course gourmet experience, offering tasty regional dishes prepared from the finest fresh local product. And to top the meal off, select from Viking’s regional wines to perfectly complement your meal.
